Pedalhaus – The combination of low energy design, architecture and cycling…..
This was the first Pedalhaus organised by George Mikurick of Architype. The idea was to look at a few projects, past and present in Herefordshire.
We met on a murky day and rode to HARC (Archive facility) in Rotherwas, the UK’s first Passivhaus archive project designed by Architype (with Nick Grant and Alan Clarke as consultants) currently being constructed by Kier, where we had a fascinating tour of the building. From there, we cycled back to Hereford, where we visited two retrofit projects by SimmondsMills.
After lunch we made the epic journey (in the rain!) for Mike Whitfield’s passivhaus.
This is definitely the way forward for new builds and retro fit. I wonder when the major house builders will get into passivhaus?…
