Project type: Bespoke fitted furniture
Design: Louise Christie
Specialist joinery: Andy Dix
With only limited space available, the challenge set by the client was to introduce order into chaos and produce a bespoke piece of fixed furniture to cleverly house their clothing, shoes, hats and bags. A vanity unit was also part of the brief. Flair and ingenuity were needed to produce work that would sit well in the context of this home, with its contemporary style.
The clients’ storage needs were audited and listed and space requirements identified. Initial ideas and sketches were developed into a final concept inspired by the Swiss army knife: cleverly storing a lot within a limited space. The final design inventively employed a series of opening flaps and sliding panels to reveal clothes, shoes and bags, using every inch of the space available.
